Glasscock County, Texas is seated in Garden City, Texas. But you are not going to find lush gardens here. The County is a large producer of oil and gas in the Permian Basin of Texas. Over 480 drilling permits were issued in 2024 alone. Besides hydrocarbon production, the County sees substantial environmental impacts in other areas: Wastewater storage, pipelines, truck transportation, brine extraction and refinement, natural gas flaring, and more. It’s an important County. But don’t get too excited about the gardens.
