Dawson County, Texas is large producer of oil and gas in the Permian Basin of Texas. Over 100 drilling permits were issued in 2024 alone. Besides hydrocarbon production, the County sees substantial environmental impacts in other areas: Wastewater storage, pipelines, truck transportation, brine extraction and refinement, natural gas flaring, and more. It’s an important County. Just don’t drink the water or breathe the air.
