Oil and Gas Overview: Cass County, Texas

Cass County, Texas is an oil and gas producing county in East Texas. While it is not a major producer, over 50 drilling permits were issued in 2024 alone and the county sees a large environmental impact from ancillary services - pipeline work, trucking, wastewater disposal, and the like. What’s that odd smell in the air? Hopefully not Hydrogen Sulfide. It’s potentially deadly, but not uncommon around oil and gas wells.
